Fruits a beagle can eat

Beagles can eat a wide range of fruits. However there are also a lot of fruits that are very dangerous for your beagle to eat. Therefore it is very important to know what your beagle can and cannot eat.

Apples

Beagles can eat apples. They are a great snack for your pet; apples are a great source of vitamins A and C. Although it is important to remove all of the seeds and fruit core. Apple seeds contain small traces of cyanide, which can be harmful to your dog if enough is consumed.

There are many ways you can give your beagle apples as a treat. You could cut the apple into slices or cubes to make it easier for them to eat. Apples can be used as an occasional treat or they could be used in games, such as in a kong.

You should be feeding your beagle around one or two slices at a time. Any more than this could result in bellyaches or diarrhea.

Bananas

Beagles can eat bananas. Bananas are a great source of potassium, biotin, fiber, and copper. Bananas are a great alternative to fatty and salty treats. But they should not become part of your beagle’s main diet because of their high sugar content.

Banana peels should not be fed to your dog, so make sure to peel them first.

There are a few different ways you can give your beagles bananas. One of which is to mix it in with their normal kibble. You could mix it with dog safe peanut butter as a tasty treat or fill a kong with banana. Another option is to freeze a banana, without the peel, and then cut it into bite size slices.

Blueberries

Beagles can eat blueberries. Blueberries are a great healthy treat for your dog. They have high levels of antioxidants, fiber and phytochemicals. Antioxidants are a great way of preventing cell damage.

Blueberries can be given to your beagle either fresh or frozen.

Cranberries

Beagles can eat cranberries. You can give your dog both cranberries and dried cranberries. But like most fruits it is important to feed them to your dog in moderation.

Cranberry sauce can also be eaten by beagles. However, cranberry sauce has a much higher sugar content. This means that it does pose a health risk to your pet if not used in moderation. It is also important to check the ingredients of cranberry sauce as it can contain toxic ingredients. Things to be looking out for include brandy, grapes, raisins and currants.

Cucumbers

Beagles can eat cucumbers. Cucumbers are a good option for overweight beagles. They have very little carbohydrates, fats or oils. But they are filled with vitamins K,c and B1. Cucumbers can be a very good addition to your beagle’s diet and meals.

There are very few risks posed by cucumbers, on the whole they are a very safe and healthy treat for your beagle. A potential risk would be it becoming a choking hazard. Although, this can be easily avoided by cutting the cucumber up into small slices for your beagle.

Mango

Beagles can eat mangos. As long as the pit and peel have been removed, mangos are a good treat. Mangos contain vitamins A, B6, C, and E. Just like most fruits, mango has a very high sugar content so it is important to use in moderation.

Oranges

Beagles can eat oranges. Oranges may be a good tasty source of many vitamins but your beagle may not like it’s citrus smell. You must also remember to remove all of the seeds. You should also remove the peel as it can be rough on your beagle’s digestive system.

Peaches

Beagles can eat peaches. The pit of a peach does contain cyanide so make sure to cut around it. Peaches contain fiber and vitamin A, which helps to fight infections.

Avoid giving your dog canned peaches. Canned peaches contain very high levels of sugar that can upset your beagles stomach.

Pears

Beagles can eat pears. Just like other fruits it is important to remove the seeds. Pears contain vitamin C, vitamin K and copper.

Just like peaches we suggest avoiding canned pears due to their high sugar content.

Pineapple

Beagles can eat pineapple. Pineapples are a great treat for your beagle. Just make sure to remove the peel and crown first.

Pineapples can also be served frozen. During summer time this is a great way to cool your beagle down.

Pumpkin

Beagles can eat pumpkin. Pumpkin offers many benefits to your pet, such as improving your beagles digestion. Pumpkins can help with diarrhea and constipation.

Pumpkin can help many of your beagle’s common health problems.

Raspberries

Beagles can eat raspberries. Raspberries contain antioxidants that are very good for your dog. But just like every fruit you should feed them in moderation.

Raspberries are low in sugar and calories, making them a great treat. They contain high levels of fiber, magnesium and vitamin C which are all great for your dog.

Strawberries

Beagles can eat strawberries and they contain high levels of fiber and vitamin C.

When feeding your dog strawberries you should first wash them and then cut them up into bite size pieces. Strawberries can also be squashed into a puree and mixed in with their kibble. During summer you can freeze your strawberries to make a great cold treat for those exceptionally hot days.

Watermelon

Beagles can eat watermelon but remember to remove all seeds first as well as the rind. Watermelon has many health benefits for your dog. Watermelon contains vitamin A, vitamin B6, vitamin C and potassium.

Watermelon also has a very high water content, which makes it perfect for hydrating your pet.
